Consumer Reports reliability rankings by brand

Consumer Reports released its annual Car Reliability Survey based on the responses of 1.4 million vehicles, owned or leased by subscribers.  This shows how each of 33 brands ranked.

Asians top auto reliability

Asian automakers are still building the most reliable cars and trucks, with eight of the top 10 brands from Japanese and Korean companies, according to an annual survey by Consumer Reports.

Honda’s Insight hybrid was the most reliable vehicle in the survey.  Toyota, despite a recent spate of recalls, and Honda consistently build cars that cause few problems for Consumer Reports readers.

Asian automakers have scored well over the years because they traditionally paid more attention to quality and have tried to perfect manufacturing procedures. The U.S. automakers, however, claim that they have caught up.

Complete results will be in Consumer Reports’ December issue, which is due out Nov. 2, or Tuesday for subscribers to the Consumer Reports Web site at http://www.consumerreports.org.

I wanted let Honda know about a great experience I had at Honda of Seattle downtown on Olive Way. Last week I went to my car and noticed that someone had attempted to tear my license plate holder off the front end of my car. Thankfully it was still there, but I had no idea how to put it back on properly, nor did I have a drill to do so. My sister bought her Honda downtown and she recommended that I go there since it is the closest car dealership to me. I called Honda of Seattle, and spoke to Shawn. He said to go ahead and bring my Saturn down, and they would be happy to figure this out for me. When I arrived in their service department, Chad, eventually took a look at my car for me. He didn’t have the hardware needed to re-attach it, but he said he would be able to drill new holes in for me. Chad took a few minutes to figure out what he needed, and within 12 minutes of driving into the dealership, my license plate was back on, secure, and ready to go! When I asked how much I owed, he said “nothing, it was a simple science experiment”. What he did was great customer service, especially since I’ve never been there before, not owned a Honda. Also, what he thought was an easy task to do was kind of impossible for me. I just wanted to let you know that he helped me tremendously and took one more added stress off my shoulders. I also work downtown, and understand that customer service is a hard job. I just wanted to let you know that Shawn, Chad, and all of the other service people were so genuine and helpful. Even though I don’t own a Honda (yet), I will definitely go there now for service needs, tires, etc.

I just wanted to let you know that I had a fantastic experience dealing with Honda of Seattle in the past couple days and that so far, I am happy with my purchase. I have not had the opportunity to enjoy the car yet as I have returned to Wisconsin and I will be having it shipped here. But I dealt with Mike Vena and he was a true pleasure to work with. I don’t know if it is just him or the entire staff at Honda/Toyota of Seattle, but both locations were extremely pleasant to work with. I don’t have much experience dealing with car salesman as this is only the second car I have purchased and the first from a dealer. But my dad was with me the whole time and he was shocked at how easy and painless the experience was.
